Robert William Black, a well-known serial killer, was initially considered a suspect but was later eliminated.
Nikki Allan Murder Update: David Boyd Charged With Murder
After waiting for many years, Nikki received justice. David Boyd, 55, of Stockton-on-Tees, was found guilty following a three-week trial. He will be sentenced on May 23.
Boyd, who was 25 at the time, lived next door to Nikki .
The jury was instructed that Boyd, who was 25 at the time, and Nikki shared a residence at the Wear Garth apartments in Sunderland’s east end and that Boyd’s girlfriend was the girl’s babysitter.
He knew how to open a damaged, boarded-up window and enter the abandoned Old Exchange building.
Prosecutors asserted that he bore a “striking resemblance” to a man who had been observed with Nikki immediately before she died. His DNA was found on Nikki’s clothing.

A local adolescent named George Heron was charged with Nikki’s murder in 1993. He was put twice on trial but never found guilty.
The case remained open for several years before Police announced in 2017 that they had new DNA evidence.
The trial ended when there were many witnesses. The Police believe Nikki was last seen skipping beside a male the day before her death was discovered, according to Wright, one of the witnesses.
He said, “The little girl would sometimes fall behind and skip to catch up.” “Nikki Allan was this. She was skipping to her death as she was with her killer.
At around 10 o’clock that evening, he claimed that numerous witnesses heard screaming near the structure where Nikki was discovered.

Others shouted at Boyd, but he didn’t seem to hear, so Nikki’s sister Stacey Allan exclaimed, “Yes, thank you,” as she left the court.
