He was born on April 18, 1944, and died on June 5, 2023. He is renowned for being involved in one of the worst espionage scandals in American history.

Robert Hanssen, an FBI agent who rose to fame for his espionage endeavors, was married to Bernadette Hanssen, formerly Bonnie Wauck.

People who knew the Hanssen family said they were a close-knit family. They had a solid religious foundation and were engaged members of their church. 

Hanssen himself regularly attended Mass, and until her retirement in 2020, Bonnie Hanssen taught theology at Oakcrest School.

The family’s dedication to Catholicism and education was evident through their selection of schools and participation in Opus Dei.

Despite unity within the family, Robert Hanssen’s personal life contained unsettling elements. Through the use of a friend who would watch the Hanssens at private moments through a bedroom window and later using covert cameras, he engaged in voyeuristic behavior.
