Before coming to Starkville, King played for Lincoln Academy, averaging 23.5 points, eight rebounds, and three assists per game as a senior.
His impressive numbers earned him the title of a top 125 national recruit according to Lindy’s Magazine and marked him as Georgia’s No. 5 prospect and the southeast region’s No. 34 prospect by ESPN.com.
King’s career took off even further during his sophomore year at Middle Tennessee State as he emerged as one of the Blue Raider’s top contributors.
In 26 games, King averaged 3.2 points and 1.0 rebounds per game. He also showed shooting proficiency, hitting .420 from the floor, .289 from 3-point range, and .786 from the free-throw line.
Perhaps most importantly, during this season, King recorded the first double-double of his career with 14 points and ten rebounds against Hofstra in the Northern Classic.
