Tasman Mako, the squad for which Guyton made 52 provincial-level appearances from 2013 to 2017, sent a statement on social media confirming Guyton’s passing.

Guyton served as Tasman’s Farah Palmer Cup team’s assistant coach most recently.

The Mako wrote on Facebook, “Billy was a much-loved part of our whole Tasman Rugby Union squad and had a tremendous influence on those he played alongside and mentored.

Billy has significantly aided the growth of women’s rugby in our Tasman area. We offer Billy’s family, friends, and coworkers our sympathies and aloha during this difficult time.

In four seasons with the Hurricanes, Crusaders, and Blues—for whom he played 24 games—Guyton appeared in 26 Super Rugby matches.

The unfortunate passing of Billy Guyton has left us surprised and grieved, according to a Blues social media statement from today. He was a skilled rugby player who played 24 times for the Blues from 2016 to 2017.

We cannot fathom the pain his loved ones must be going through right now. We express our deepest condolences to everyone who knew Billy.
