He completed his master’s degree in finance at the University of Alabama after completing three summer internships with the bank from 2018-2020.
On Monday morning, Sturgeon used a rifle to shoot and kill five people, including himself, at the bank’s branch in downtown Louisville.
Nine patients were treated at the University of Louisville Hospital, including two Police officers, with one in critical condition.
According to Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel, Sturgeon live-streamed the incident over the internet and shared memes on Instagram that were taken offline following the shooting.

Five killed in bank shooting in Louisville, Kentucky
A mass shooting at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, left five people dead on Monday. According to the Police, the shooter was a 25-year-old male bank team member.
He used a rifle as his “weapon of choice” and was killed by law enforcement during the attack. The shooter also live-streamed the incident on Instagram, which was later taken down.
Nine patients were brought to a local hospital, including two Police officers and seven civilians.
Three patients have been released, while three others, including a Police officer, are in critical condition.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer expressed condolences to the victims’ families and urged the community to come together and support each other during this difficult time.
