Jason Jordan Segel was born on January 18, 1980, in Los Angeles, California.

He grew up in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood and started making waves in Hollywood at a young age.

After appearing in minor roles in films such as “Can’t Hardly Wait” and “Slackers”, he landed the lead role in 1999’s NBC comedy-drama series Freaks and Geeks which was met with critical acclaim.

During the show’s run from 1999-2000, Segel’s character Nick Andopolis even had a song dedicated to him. 

Jason: Partnership With Judd Apatow

After Freaks and Geeks, Segel went on to work with producer Judd Apatow on other projects including the television series Undeclared and the critically successful comedies that followed.

Some of his most notable films include Knocked Up (2007), Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008), I Love You, Man (2009), Despicable Me (2010), Bad Teacher (2011), Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011), The Muppets (2011), The Five-Year Engagement (2012), This Is 40 (2012), Sex Tape (2014) and Our Friend (2019).

Segel became a household name after his success in these films and especially after playing Marshall Eriksen in the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother”.

Broadening His Resume:

Since becoming a rising star, Segel has taken on some intriguing roles that have broadened his resume.

In the 2015 film The End of the Tour, he played the late author David Foster Wallace and was met with critical acclaim which earned him a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.

In 2016, Segel published his first novel, “Nightmare” at the Book Fair.

It has become a best seller and is currently being developed for TV by Universal Television and Segel’s production company Stampede Ventures.

Segel is also well-known for his voiceover work.

He has provided the voice of characters in movies such as Despicable Me (2010) and Despicable Me 2 (2013), and he recently lent his voice to the character of Bob the tomato in VeggieTales in the House (2014).
