Since the accident, he has been in rehabilitation, working to overcome the obstacles in his way.
Young received an emotional gut punch beyond anything he had ever known when doctors first informed him following the accident that his spinal damage could cause him to use a wheelchair for life.
Young is undergoing care at a Sioux Falls, South Dakota, trauma center. He did not detail his wounds, but he did tell the Times-Union that this would be the most brutal battle of his life.
Young claimed that his sister, a physical therapist, and mother, a nurse in an intensive care unit, are also by his side as he recovers. He declared he would undoubtedly lead an independent life through an arduous recovery.
Young tweeted a series of updates regarding his health: “Continue to keep my family and me in your thoughts. I think that with God, anything is possible; thus, my main desire is that my mind remains resilient in the face of the enemy. I want to live by His Will for my life and utilize my trial to encourage others no matter what.
Patric Young’s Health Update
Young discussed how the accident had affected his life during an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show on Thursday.
After a month and a half in the hospital, he is now discharged, and he claims the staff arranged for him to go home with his wife and stepdaughter to resume some sort of normalcy.
The focus now is on becoming more muscular, and Young is making efforts in this direction. He can now move his toes.
But it won’t be simple, and he spoke about how hard he’s working with Billy Donovan, his former coach. He demonstrated that his sense of humor was still intact in the process.
