Despite that, Walker received prompt medical care but could not be rescued. Walker was declared dead at the hospital.

20-month-old Sioux Center resident Walker Maassen tragically perished in a horrible accident. On their family farm, on May 6, 2023, his father, Christopher Maassen, was operating a truck when a tragic occurrence happened.

 Christopher stopped the car to unhook a trailer, and when he started driving again, he unintentionally ran over Walker. Despite early efforts, Walker could not be revived, and the hospital declared him dead.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office viewed the child’s death as unfortunate. Hence, no charges were indicated as having been brought. The incident destroyed the Maassen family and shocked the neighborhood. 

Walker was remembered by his family and friends as a happy toddler who was always willing to help with farm tasks.
