Ruth Perry, a 53-year-old head teacher of Caversham Primary School, took her own life. A coroner has concluded that an Ofsted inspection most likely had an impact on headteacher Ruth Perry’s death.

Mrs. Ruth Perry, 53, committed suicide in January while she awaited the release of an Ofsted report.

Julia Waters, Ruth’s sister, underlined the pressing necessity to draw conclusions from Ruth’s passing.

After being discovered dead, Ruth came to light and said that an Ofsted report from her school was the reason behind her death.

The woman’s family claims that receiving her Ofsted assessment in November of last year was the saddest day of her life.

She seemed to have been greatly affected by this news, which probably had an effect on her mental health before she committed herself.

After an inquest determined that Ruth Perry committed herself after a “callous and inhumane” Ofsted inspection, her family has issued a warning, saying that lessons “must be learned.”

Her distraught sister claimed the family’misses her every day,’ and her widow, Jonathan Perry, called marrying the headteacher ‘the best thing I’ve ever done’.

Mrs. Perry, 53, committed herself, according to a coroner’s ruling today, following the watchdog’s downgrade of her primary school from “outstanding” to “inadequate.”

Her grieving spouse disclosed that she expressed concerns regarding the downgrade’s effect on the neighbourhood, and Mrs. Perry’s general practitioner, Tom Back, stated at the inquest that he thought there was a “connection” between the inspection and the headteacher’s decline in mental health and eventual death, which transpired two months later.

The coroner continued, turning to face Mrs. Perry’s distraught family during the hearing, saying, “The composure and dignity you have displayed throughout is remarkable.” She is not our Ruth; she is yours.

Ruth Perry Family And Ethnicity

Ruth Perry was survived by her sister, husband, and children. She never disclosed her ethnicity when she was alive.

Following the watchdog’s “intimidating” inspection of Caversham Primary School in Reading last year due to concerns about safeguarding, the headteacher was left “completely devastated” in the weeks that followed.

Following the verdict, sister Professor Julia Waters spoke on behalf of Mrs. Perry’s family, saying that Ruth was more than just a victim of a cruel school inspection system.

Ruth Perry’s sister talked about Ruth on behalf of her family.

She was not just an instructor of headship. Ruth was a beautiful person. Our lives now have a great emptiness caused by Ruth’s passing. We are all terribly missing her.

She went on, “The Coroner’s findings confirm what our family has known for a long time, which is that Ruth committed suicide as a direct result of the procedure, result, and fallout from an Ofsted inspection of Caversham Primary School, the school she led and cherished.”

The harsh inhumanity of the Ofsted inspection system was made evident during Ruth’s inquest.

Ofsted enjoys using one-word labels to categorize individuals. We may use our own labels, such as cruel, wicked, and brutal, to evaluate the current Ofsted system.
