The Arau district police chief, Superintendent Ahmad Mohsin Mohd Rodi, conveyed that the police await the autopsy report.

Despite the absence of a need for psychiatric evaluation on the suspect, Munirah’s husband, who is the main suspect, tested positive for methamphetamine during a urine test.

However, drug influence was not identified as the direct cause of the incident.

The suspect has been remanded until October 7 to facilitate the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The 38-year-old husband, a retired soldier, is in custody after surrendering himself, and police attribute the fatal stabbing to a jealous argument.

Munirah’s untimely demise, resulting from chest wounds, leaves the family grappling with grief, seeking a fair trial for the suspect as they prepare to lay Munirah to rest in Kampung Paya Tengah Beseri, Perlis.

The autopsy, conducted at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star, unveiled the brutal nature of the crime at their residence in Padang Nyu, Arau, last Saturday.

While awaiting the full investigation report, Superintendent Ahmad Mohsin asserted that a psychiatric analysis of the suspect was unnecessary.

However, it was revealed that the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine during the incident, though drug influence is not considered the primary cause.

Ahmad Mohsin is in custody until October 7, assisting in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Following the tragic stabbing of nurse Munirah Abu Bakar by her husband in Jalan Padang Nyu, Arau, Perlis, the Deputy Women, Family, and Community Development Minister, Aiman Athirah Sabu, has provided updates on the case.

Expressing concern for the well-being of Munirah’s children, aged six and eight, who witnessed the horrifying incident, the ministry plans to arrange counseling sessions through the Social Welfare Department to address their trauma.

Aiman affirmed that financial aid and a suitable guardian for the children would be determined by the department and family members.

The retired army husband, who surrendered after the crime, is in custody.

The ministry offers various programs, including Matahari and Iris, to educate women on their rights and provide assistance in cases of broken families or domestic violence.

The community is urged to seek counseling support through the ministry and Talian Kasih consistently.
