A professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA), Austin Tyler Reaves was born in Germany and the United States.

In Newark, Arkansas, Reaves attended Cedar Ridge High School. In his first two seasons, he won back-to-back Class 2A state championships.

Reaves scored 73 points in a three-overtime triumph over Forrest City High School.

His team won the Class 3A state title as a senior under his leadership, scoring 32.5 points, pulling 8.8 rebounds, and dishing out 5.1 assists per contest.

After scoring 43.3 points per game on the way to winning the state tournament MVP award, Reaves played in four games.

As a senior at Cedar Ridge School, Spencer Reaves was named the most valuable player in two basketball state championship games. He also placed second in the state in tennis twice.

Austin looks up to his brother, who is two years, five months older than him, more like a best friend.

Austin wasn’t interested in the sport until the seventh grade. His brother used to pull him to the gym. They played many one-on-one games as kids; the older brother always came on top.

Meet Austin Reaves Family

Austin Tyler Reaves, the youngest child of Nicole Wilkett and Brian Reaves, was born in Newark, Arkansas, on May 29, 1998.

The NBA shooting guard comes from a line of basketball players. His dad was both an Arkansas State basketball player in college.

Austin’s mother attended Arkansas State after graduating from Sulphur Rock High School, where as a senior, she averaged 21.3 points per game and was selected to the all-conference team.

Brian Reaves participated in league play for the Arkansas Red Wolves from 1989–1990 to 1992–1993. He participated in 107 games for his collegiate club, averaging 4.7 points, 189 rebounds, 398 assists, and 90 steals.

Austin, a 2016–18 Cedar Ridge High School graduate, is now a Wichita State University student. As a sophomore transfer at the University of Oklahoma (2019–21), he redshirted his 2018–19 season. Reaves needed surgery to repair a torn labrum after suffering three shoulder dislocations in college.

Austin Reaves later signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers after going undrafted in the NBA draft 2021.

He quickly became a member of the teams of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, Malik Monk, Carmelo Anthony, and others, and immediately influenced the team. The sportsman made his NBA debut on October 22, 2021, losing 115-105 to the Phoenix Suns.
