On February 19, 2021, Faisal’s younger brother found him smoking drugs from a pipe and called the Police, resulting in his arrest for the second time.

Faisal had claimed trial and was scheduled to appear in court on February 25, 2021, when he committed suicide by climbing onto the tracks between Kallang and Lavender MRT stations.

Ahmed Faisal Depressed and Odly Behaviour

Before his suicide, Ahmed Faisal had displayed odd behavior and signs of depression.

On February 24, 2021, the day before he was scheduled to appear in court for drug charges, Faisal met with a friend and acted strangely, staring into space and mumbling.

Faisal did not attend his court hearing the following day, and his brother later found him dead on the MRT track. Faisal had never expressed suicidal ideations to his family or investigators.

However, he had shared with his friend that he was depressed and missed his family in Bangladesh and wanted to find a girlfriend but could not do so.

The state coroner concluded that Faisal had committed suicide and that the pressure and stress of the impending verdict for his drug consumption case may have contributed to his decision.
