Liam Messam Parents: Father Lewis And Mother Wanda Messam

Liam Messam Parents are proud of him as he is one of the best New Zealand rugby union players who play TOP14 for RC Toulonnais. 

Born in New Zealand on March 25, 1984, Liam Messam is a highly accomplished rugby union player. He has played for top teams like the Chiefs in Super Rugby and Waikato in the ITM Cup.

Liam didn’t just play rugby in New Zealand; he also represented his country in international competitions.

In 2008, he was selected to join the New Zealand team that toured Hong Kong and Europe.

Messam played against Scotland and Munster during that tour. Since then, he has played for the All Blacks many times, earning 40 test caps.

But Liam’s sporting talents don’t end there. He also had great success in sevens rugby. When he was only 20, he led the New Zealand Sevens team to win the IRB Sevens World Series.

With the sevens team, he even won gold medals in the Commonwealth Games in 2006 and 2010.

In addition to rugby, Liam has also tried his hand at professional boxing. He had his first fight in 2015 and won.

Liam’s parents are known to be Lewis and Wanda Messam. However, they are not Liam’s biological parents. Liam is the adopted child of Mr. and Mrs Wanda. 

Over more than thirty years, Mr. and Mrs. Messam have provided foster care to approximately 300 children in Rotorua.

Alongside raising their three biological children, they have also welcomed five children through adoption.

Liam Messam speaks highly of the opportunities his parents provided for him and the many other children they cared for.

Growing up in a large family that welcomed foster children, Liam praised his parents’ ability to give these children a fresh start and their love and support for everyone.

The legacy of Lewis and Wanda Messam will be long-lasting, as they have touched the lives of hundreds of individuals and left an indelible mark on the community through their years of foster care.

Liam Messam comes from a diverse ethnic background. He is of Māori descent and specifically affiliates with the Ngāi Tūhoe iwi.

In addition, Messam has mentioned having Samoan and Scottish heritage, reflecting the multicultural aspects of his ancestry.

Liam Messam has a brother named Sam Messam. Sam, born on March 2, 1986, is a football player representing New Zealand.

He plays for the St. George Saints Football Club and has had the privilege of representing New Zealand in the Olympic Games.

Sam Messam was included in the New Zealand squad for the football tournament at the Summer Olympics held in Beijing.

Although he played in only one of New Zealand’s group matches, it was a significant opportunity to showcase his skills.

Unfortunately, the match ended in a 0–1 loss to Belgium.

Furthermore, Messam’s football career led him to sign with the New South Wales Premier League Club APIA Leichhardt for the 2011 season, broadening his professional experience and allowing him to compete at a higher level.

After all, Liam Messam and his brother Sam share an incredible bond.
