She is still an only child despite playing many public roles. Lerato’s relationship with her mother, Rae, is strong and healthy within her immediate family. She has, however, said that her father is emotionally absent from their relationship.

In interviews, Lerato recently discussed the difficulties in her relationship with her father. She expressed her readiness to let go of the hurt, betrayal, suffering, and resentments she had earlier had toward him.

 Lerato seemed to be actively trying to rebuild their damaged relationship and find healing.

It’s interesting to note that Lerato is related to Kaizer Kganyago, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) spokesperson. 

Lerato’s uncle, Kaizer, provides a meaningful connection to the media sector within her family.

Lerato spent her early years of development in Soweto. Ipolokeng Basic School was where she finished primary school before continuing to Boksburg High School for her secondary education. 

Lerato then attended Damelin College to earn a travel, tourism, and public relations diploma.

Lerato has found support and familial ties within her extended family despite her emotional separation from her father.

The personal life of Lerato Kganyago has experienced its fair share of ups and downs. She married Gauteng businessman Thami Ndlela in a traditional ceremony when she was 37 years old in 2024. 

Even with the coronavirus outbreak in the background, the couple took all essential safety measures for their wedding. Although they declared their split two months after the conventional wedding, their marital happiness was short-lived.

Lerato announced their breakup on Instagram, expressing sadness and blaming conflicting commitments and workloads as reasons they could not commit to their relationship.

Lerato was engaged to South African player Katlego Mashego before her marriage to Thami Ndlela. Before ending their romance in 2014, they were together for four years.

Despite having announced their engagement in 2013, they ultimately decided against it. Lerato experienced a heartbreaking miscarriage at this time, which left her feeling quite upset.

Lerato had surgery to remove uterine fibroids in 2013 as well. The fibroids had become the size of tennis balls and seriously affected my health.

 Unfortunately, the fibroids have come back, which will make further miscarriages likely in the future. Lerato has therefore decided to reject having children to spare herself the agony of suffering another miscarriage.

Notably, a few months after their divorce, Thami Ndlela asked Lerato to marry him once more on her birthday. 

However, it needs to be apparent how their relationship is doing right now. Lerato Kganyago’s romantic and relationship experiences have been filled with happiness and heartache. 

She has had difficulties and losses but still manages to navigate her personal life with grit and resiliency.
