Five Christian organizations, including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, were placed on “provisional status” by the university after they disregarded the nondiscrimination policy when selecting leadership candidates.
The school argues in favor of the rule, citing, for instance, the freedom of a non-Christian to run for office in a Christian organization. Rodgers, however, disagrees.
Rodgers, a prominent participant in the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes, questioned: “What’s the sense of having these groups if someone [running for leadership] doesn’t share the religion being taught?
But at the very least, that person should be allowed to run for office. Rodgers acknowledged that a non-believer would not win the election.

Jordan’s father, a doctor from Texas, was an offensive guard for the Chico State Wildcats from 1973 to 1976. He has English, Irish, and German ancestry.
