Henri Krasuski Wikipedia: Where Is He From? Origin Family And Wife

Several people are interested to know about Henri Krasuski Wikipedia bio and his journey as a French trade unionist. Before being a unionist, he was the General Secretary of the CGT ( General Confederation of Labour) from 1982 till 1992.

During Henri’s younger days, he was involved in communist organizations and joined the Communist Youth in Belleville, where he met his mentor, Pierre Georges. He worked at a multinational automobile manufacturer Renault and gained the attention of trade unionists.

Before entering the Renault factory, Krasuski involved himself in cooperative movements. He began activism as a trade unionist after entering the factory.

In January 1945, he was part of a “death march” and was saved by Allied troops who took charge of him and placed him under the care of Marcel Paul, a communist leader and one of the Resistance’s leaders, who was responsible for returning deportees.

The former General Secretary of the CGT was a part of World War II.

When communist organizations were prohibited, he went into hiding and joined the Resistance by carrying out acts of sabotage and distributing leaflets. 

After the war, he became one of the leaders of the PCF and a permanent member of the CGT trade union.

Joining the CGT in 1961 played a crucial role in the significant strikes of 1968 and in the negotiations that led to the Grenelle agreements, which resulted in a 35% increase in the French minimum wage, among other gains.

Before taking on the role of editor for La Vie ouvrière, the official publication of the CGT labor union, the confederal bureau of the CGT included him as a member.

The French Communist Party (PCF) leader later became part of the political bureau of the PCF in 1964 and was considered a potential candidate for the leadership of the CGT in 1967.

In 1982, the trade unionist succeeded Georges Seguy as secretary general of the CGT and held the position until 1992.

The trade unionist was born into a Jewish and communist Polish family in 1924, and they migrated to France in 1926 to flee General Pilsudski’s anti-Semitic and anti-communist dictatorship.

His father’s name was Izaak, a worker and activist. There isn’t much known about his mother, but she was a textile worker and communist activist.

During the German occupation, Izaak was arrested by the Germans. He was also a Resistance member in January 1943 and sent to Birkenau.

The trade unionist, along with his mother and sister, was arrested two months later and tortured.

Despite this, he did not divulge information and was deported to concentration camps, where he was forced into labor, but he continued his resistance activities.

Now talking about the communist leader’s wife, there isn’t much known about the topic. Very little to no information is available about his wife.

The resistance fighter, trade unionist, and communist leader passed away in Paris on January 24, 2003.

A large funeral was held on January 28, and he was laid to rest in the Père Lachaise cemetery’s 97th division, next to other members of his family, opposite the Fédérés wall.
