During Game 4 of the 2023 NBA Playoffs between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers, guard Gary Payton II reportedly played a full defensive possession with vomit in his mouth.

He then walked off the court, leaving the Warriors to play 4-on-5 on the next possession, resulting in Draymond Green’s turnover.

Fans were left wondering why Payton had left the court, but it was later speculated that he had to let the vomit out.

The Warriors, already down 2-1 in the series, were facing a must-win game, and Payton’s illness could have contributed to the team’s struggles.

Despite the setback, the Warriors managed to stay in the game but ultimately fell to the Lakers 110-105, putting them on the brink of elimination from the playoffs.

Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II suddenly departed from the court during Game 4 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Payton walked over to the Warriors’ bench and signaled to his coaches that he needed to come out of the game during a defensive possession with 6:29 left in the first quarter.

While Payton headed toward the bench, Draymond Green made a pass to the Laker’s court, not realizing that Payton was coming off.

Payton’s sudden departure from the floor is unclear, and he ran towards the locker room once the ball went out of bounds.

However, Payton returned to the bench shortly after and was able to reenter the game at the start of the second quarter.

Payton, who was inserted into the starting lineup for Game 4, played a crucial role in the Warriors’ effort to tie the series.
