After studying theater arts at Miami University in Ohio and Endicott College in Massachusetts, Chubbuck earned a degree in broadcasting from Boston University in 1965.
After graduating, she worked at several television stations before moving to Sarasota, Florida, to work for WTOG and WXLT-TV.
