During the press conference on Tuesday, Beavercreek Police Capt. Chad Lindsey named the suspected gunman as Dayton resident Benjamin Charles Jones, age 20.
At 8:36 p.m., a witness at the store reported to 911 that a man was entering Walmart with a firearm. Officers were dispatched in just a minute and arrived at 8:39 p.m.
Four adult consumers were shot in a matter of minutes, three of them female and one male, according to the police.
Three of the victims are thought to be stable, while one female victim is still in serious condition as of Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.

Jones is a native of the area, according to Zrinka Dilber, the assistant special agent in charge of the Cincinnati FBI Field Office. Last year, he returned to Dayton.

Alisha Ring, one of the witnesses, shared on Facebook Live that she was out shopping for Thanksgiving when the suspect approached her, brandishing an “assault rifle” and opened fire.”
“Tonight, God was keeping an eye on me. He strolled by me. She started crying hysterically and said, “I just wanted to get groceries.”
She identified the gunman as a young, Caucasian, tall, slender man with long hair. She claimed that his Army bookbag was partially open, and he appeared to be “looking like he was on a mission.”
Police verified that four individuals had been shot. Three of the patients were in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, the fourth victim’s condition was severe but stable. One male and three ladies made up the injured group.

At 8:39 p.m., the first responding cops heard gunfire and arrived on the site.
They discovered the gunman, who appeared to have shot himself, lying on the ground next to the vision center as they moved forward and inside the business. Officers, in response, did not discharge their weapons.
According to Lindsey, Jones was carrying a High-Point carbine long gun in.45 caliber, although it’s unclear how many rounds he fired.
In addition, police are looking into whether Jones was the legitimate owner of the gun and whether he knew the victims.
