Mintz, 38, was born in Monroe, Louisiana, but spent much of his childhood on his family’s farm near Lake Washington, Mississippi. Mintz had to pick a side because he was born to an LSU fan Father and an Ole Miss law school alum mother.
“When I graduated from high school, I still didn’t know where I was going,” he explained. He eventually chose Ole Miss, primarily because “everyone else from Monroe” was attending LSU.
In the fall of 2001, he arrived at University, pledged to an ATO fraternity, and lived in Stockard Hall until moving into the ATO House. He majored in finance.
But playing hard in New Orleans took its toll, and in May 2014, Mintz agreed when close friend Elliott Willard, who Oxford locals know from the City Grocery pub, suggested he return to Oxford and finish his degree.
He returned to Oxford, began school, and obtained a part-time restaurant job. Mintz is of standard height. According to his photographs, he appears quite tall in relation to his surroundings.
