Kristen Hayes husband, Jimmy Hayes, died unfortunately at age 31 on 23 August 2021.
While Jimmy’s cause of death was not confirmed at the time, it was later found out that the cause of death of the NHL athlete was a drug overdose.
The Boston Bruins player’s death was declared accidental on Sunday, October 17, by the Massachusetts state medical examiner, who cited “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of fentanyl and cocaine.”
Kristen replied, “I was so certain that it had nothing to do with drugs, I really thought it was a heart attack or anything that wasn’t that [drugs]. … It didn’t make any sense, so it was hard.”
Kristen continues to mourn her husband’s death. On October 18, she wrote on her Instagram story, “Though we are shocked and heartbroken beyond words, I choose to remember my husband and the boys’ father by the enormous love and joy he brought us and so many others.”
She added more loving pictures of Jimmy and wrote, “This battle does not define him, and I will still tell my boys every day to #BeLikeJimmy.”
