James Turcotte, 63, of Danvers, was the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash in Newbury on Thursday night.

He was riding southbound on Route 1 with Scott Dambrosio, 55, of Boxford when the incident occurred near Beach Dog Daycare.

Turcotte was pronounced dead at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport.

Dambrosio, charged with operating under the influence, negligent operation, and leaving the scene of a personal injury collision resulting in death, pleaded not guilty to the OUI charge in Haverhill District Court and was held on $5,000 bail, also having an outstanding warrant from the Newbury Police Department.

James Turcotte, aged 63, of Danvers, tragically passed away following a motorcycle accident on Route 1 in Newbury.

Alongside his riding companion, Scott Dambrosio of Boxford, Turcotte was traveling southbound near Beach Dog Daycare around 7:45 pm.

He was swiftly transported to Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, and later pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, Dambrosio was apprehended by the Boxford Police and now faces charges of operating under the influence, negligent operation, and leaving the scene of a personal injury collision resulting in death.

After entering a plea of not guilty for the OUI charge in Haverhill District Court, he was remanded in custody with bail set at $5,000, in addition to an outstanding warrant from the Newbury Police Department.

The circumstances leading to the collision between the two motorcycles have not been disclosed by Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker.

Newbury Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses relevant surveillance footage to contact 978-462-4440, ext. 127.

The tragic motorcycle accident that resulted in the death of James Turcotte, 63, of Danvers, has been linked to a drunk driving incident.

The collision occurred on Route 1 in Newbury, just south of 96 Newburyport Turnpike, on July 13.

Turcotte sustained severe injuries and was initially found alive by responding police officers. However, he later succumbed to his injuries at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport.

Scott Dambrosio, 55, of Boxford, the other motorcyclist involved in the crash, now faces charges, including leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Dambrosio pleaded not guilty to operating under the influence during his arraignment, where it was also revealed that he had an outstanding arrest warrant from the Newbury Police Department.

Authorities are seeking witnesses and surveillance footage from the area, urging anyone with information to contact the Newbury Police Department at (978) 462-4440, extension 127.

The Newbury police, along with the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, are currently investigating the incident.
