Emilia Clarke, renowned for her role in the top-rated television series ‘Game of Thrones,’ candidly discussed her battle with a cerebral aneurysm and healing following the loss of a significant portion of her brain.

An aneurysm refers to an enlarged and weakened section in an artery, which commonly develops in the aorta, brain, knee area, intestine, or spleen.

And if an aneurysm ruptures, it can lead to internal bleeding and a stroke.

During one discussion, the actress stated that a section of her brain had experienced a loss of function due to an aneurysm.

Furthermore, in an interview on BBC’s Sunday Morning, Emilia disclosed that while she was involved in the popular television series, she experienced two potentially fatal brain aneurysms, the first occurring in 2011 and the second in 2013.

It took considerable time for Clarke to recuperate from these critical health incidents.

Clarke was transported to a medical facility, where doctors determined she had experienced a subarachnoid hemorrhage. And she immediately underwent a critical three-hour surgical procedure.

Subsequently, her recovery from the surgery proved more challenging than the initial one.

The actress described the pain as highly intense, and she mentioned that being involved in ‘Game of Thrones’ was incredibly beneficial because it provided her with a sense of direction and purpose.

Similarly, Clarke expressed amazement at the portion of her brain that has become non-functional, noting that despite this, she can speak, occasionally with great clarity, and lead a completely ordinary life without any negative consequences.

Further, she stated that she belongs to a tiny group of individuals who can endure such circumstances.

Emilia Clarke expressed her gratitude for not having had her ability to lead an everyday life taken away by the two brain aneurysms she experienced during her twenties.

The performer disclosed that a cerebral aneurysm occurred in February 2011, following the conclusion of the first season of “Game of Thrones.”

Clarke, who was 24 then, was engaged in a workout session with a trainer when she encountered a distressing feeling within her brain.

She expressed that her trainer instructed her to assume the plank position, and instantly she sensed a sensation akin to an elastic band tightly compressing her brain.

After some time, she regained her health and enjoyed a regular lifestyle.

The actress shared that, following her second surgery, she exceeded her wildest healing expectations.

She conveyed that her recovery has surpassed her expectations and is now in optimal well-being.
