Elijah DeWitt Murder: Chandler Zion Richardson Arrested And Charged With Murder

In the Elijah DeWitt murder case, one of the two detained teenagers accused of the deadly shooting of Elijah will be put in front of a judge Friday morning.

On October 5, Elijah Dewitt was shot and killed outside the Sugarloaf Mills Mall in Georgia while out with his girlfriend of more than four years.

DeWitt, a star senior wide receiver for the football team at Jefferson High School, and Reidling were in a relationship for five years.

The long-term couple visited Dave & Busters on October 5 at the Sugarloaf Mills Mall in Lawrenceville, where they met up with pals to play games in the restaurant’s arcade and get dinner.

Reidling first used the restroom, and when she emerged, she reported that her lover was nowhere to be found.

She went outside to check for him and found DeWitt on the ground. Elijah was discovered “dead on the ground with many gunshot wounds,” the Gwinnett Police Department stated.

The Gwinnett Police Department reported on Friday that two suspects, Kemare Bryan and Chandler Richardson, both from Lawrenceville, had been apprehended and charged in connection with the Elijah DeWitt murder case.

Kemare and Richardson were returned to Georgia on Tuesday and lodged in the Gwinnett County Prison.

In connection with Elijah Dewitt’s murder cast, they are both accused of felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of various offenses, according to the police.

According to the police’s initial statement, the suspects and the victim appeared acquainted. When they ran into one other in the parking lot, there was an altercation followed by the shooting.

At 9 am, Chandler Zion Richardson, 19, is scheduled to be arraigned in court concerning Elijah DeWitt murder.

Kemare Bryan, the other adolescent charged with DeWitt’s murder, had previously entered a not-guilty plea.

A Gwinnett court rejected Bryan and Richardson’s bond in October because they posed a flight risk. The two were taken into custody in South Carolina only one week after the shooting.

Some people who knew DeWitt called him a gentle giant who recalled his contagious enthusiasm.

Elijah was light, the athlete didn’t speak much, but he left his mark in every space he entered. He helped people become more resilient.

Elijah’s father, Craig DeWitt, claimed to have pardoned his son’s killers. Craig stated in an interview that forgiveness is for forgiveness, and he doesn’t want hatred in the family.

Reidling also expressed her ability to pardon the accused, mentioning Elijah would pardon them to Fox News Digital.

According to a source, the teen’s mother described her son as loving and wanted him to be remembered as a strong competitor with a vast heart.

Similarly, Elijah DeWitt’s aunt, Lauren DeWitt, referred to him as a fighter and a wonderful man on the Facebook platform.

Family members and friends have thanked the neighborhood for their outpouring of support after the tragedy.

On a GoFundMe campaign, more than $50,000 has been contributed to Elijah DeWitt’s funeral expenses.

As per New York Post, Elijah Dewitt’s parents are suing the mall where he was killed, alleging that the mall’s owners overlooked significant safety dangers to their son’s detriment.

According to Georgia law, Dewitt’s parents are asking for compensation on four counts: failing to maintain a safe environment, permitting and maintaining a nuisance, voluntary undertaking, and negligent hiring, training, monitoring, and retention.
