In a video shared on Warwick Labour’s Instagram page, Joel interrupts Zahawi’s Q&A session, questioning his stance on trans rights.

Joel Balls was cheered on by fellow Labour activists and later shared the clip to his Instagram story.

Warwick Pride, the university’s LGBT+ group, released a statement saying they were upset at Zahawi for his “role” in “institutional transphobia” and his use of the term “adult human female.”

Despite the incident, Zahawi said Joel was “very polite” and happy to debate with him.
