Duncan Garner, host of the AM Show, and his wife, Deanna Delamere, have divorced after six years of marriage.

The New Zealand Herald reports Delamere moved from their House in Auckland to Wellington over the weekend. Delamere acknowledged in a media interview that their split was challenging and painful.

Throughout much of this conversation, the 49-year-old man who lives with his mother speaks while leaning his head in his hands and speaking as he would on the radio. He responds slowly while laughing. He says the last six months have been challenging.

He started working as a reporter for Television New Zealand in 1995, and from 2000 to 2002, he provided content for the Holmes current affairs program.

Garner then shifted to rival TV3 in 2003. He broke the news that, in October 2004, Labour Party MP John Tamihere received a golden handshake worth NZ$195,000 as he departed the Waipareira Trust.

Due to the investigation that the Serious Fraud Office opened after the article’s publication, Tamihere resigned from the Cabinet.

Later, Tamihere was acquitted of any financial irregularities, and Garner’s reporting on the case earned her the 2004 Newspaper Publishers’ Association Television News Reporter – Politics award.
